Stephen was bone in Sri Lanka and lived there in the village called Alaveddy until 1974. He then went to the UK to continue with his studies in engineering. He obtained a 1^st Class Hon. Degree in Mechanical Engineering and went on to work in the boiler industry, then on to the Nuclear industry and now working in the cement industry as a Project Manager. While working he continued with his education and completed a Masters Degree in Thermodynamic and Fluid Mechanics, a Diploma in Engineering Management and a PhD in Engineering.
